A heavy haze dimmed
the morning sun-
Smoke from distant fires
Your sudden appearance
displayed a momentary
ray of light
A welcome distraction
from the dusty horizon
I thought you were alone-
Standing, innocent,
out in the open
The lovely green field
a perfect contrast
with your soft tan coat
Then I saw the other-
Your sibling, perhaps?
Barely visible, camouflaged
by a patch of tall grass,
as if hiding
An early morning game
of hide-and-seek?
Do soft, tan fawns
play hide-and-seek?
The thought causes me
to smile as I
continue driving
Hopeful I will soon
break through the
gauzy veil threatening
to steal my breath
An unexpected fissure
begins to form as I
imagine you hopping
into the tall grass-I found you!

Oh, Kelley. This is beautiful, precious, heartwarming, and fun! I “see” this in real-time! I love the alliterative and fun title too! Sending lots of love and prayers, precious friend. β£οΈππ»π¦

Oh, Kelley…I’m so sorry, my friend. It’s been a challenging summer with situations. But for God! The chemo I was on for the year didn’t show the results we had hoped in the Spring. So beginning summer I started the internal IV radiation that goes specifically to this cancer (I have so many bone mets we’re hoping it will get too). I’ve done this one before. They’ll give me only 6 total and I have my last one August 20th. But my blood counts drop very low and I get infections. So I go in for infusions. Also, fatigue is bad and just icky stuff which is part of this. I have done all the treatments there is now for this cancer. But it’s finally showing that it’s stable (some other things have crept in from side effects we will address that are too personal to share here). My specialist in KC wants to do a bone marrow biopsy in the Fall along with another PET after my last treatment August 20th. I’ll go in for monthly injections and shots. Fluids. And scans every 4-6 months. I’ve lost several friends this season–also, beautiful things have occured. My parents’ health is taking priority so life continues to keep me busy. I have to rest a lot more due to fatigue and eye strain and arm pain keep me from writing as much (and reading) as I’d like. The kids keep me involved with “Snap Chat” so I’m getting used to seeing those and enjoying their lives via technology! Through it all, God is good. He remains steady and holds me during the tough times. I’m happy with my move to the 55+ area (no clubhouse or activities, just a quiet neighborhood with wonderful people).
Thank you for being such a support and precious friend. My friend, Mary, who lives in Maumelle and reminds me of you, called me a few weeks ago and I told her about you and your site. She’s a busy worker and travels a lot, but I hope she checks out your poetry books too!
Sending so much love, hugs, and prayers–even when I’m not on here, you’re in my heart. I pray YOU and yours are well, my friend. ππ»π₯°ππ
