Internal eye rolls
Awkward silences
Short-lived
Moments
Remaining
In Memories
Holding
Potential
For regrets
That is, until…
I find myself
On the other side
And any possible
Regret instantly
Transforms into
Appreciation
Understanding-
Now, the parent
Then, the child
Now, the one
Wide Awake
Late at night
Praying
As each name
Each face
Each concern
Crosses my heart
The one hoping
To offer reassurance

I like how regret turns into appreciation —

Thanks, John. ☺️ The older I get, the more I appreciate my mom. 😉

Wide awake. You’ve, as always, eloquently shared so much wisdom of life in those hours we ponder. The circle of life. ❤️💕🙏🏻
