Simply Sunday

Sharing a previous post/poem today. Seemed to fit my heart this week. Plus a little music. Hope it encourages and maybe even challenges. ❤️

Same and Different

How often
in our curious
attempts
to understand
the innermost
workings of
the body and brain
do we forget
the soul standing
in front of us?
Differences
labeled
as deficits
listed in order
of our perceived
preferences-
Yes, good comes
from understanding
but danger arises
when discoveries
serve only to
categorize
without helping us
understand we each
hold a purpose-
Oh, that we
could grasp
our differences
thru the lens
of our sameness

  1. The last line says it all to me. You’re such a beautiful and wise human–in and out. Thank you for sharing this, dear friend. I have a little meme I created last week, with a quote I wrote, that shares about harmony (and music we can create as humans if we see our purpose through “sameness”). We are kindred spirits, I believe. Much love and blessings. 💛🎶

      1. Yes! I’ll be publishing it! I was going to publish it last week (It was actually a quote I wrote a couple of years ago and I edited a few words and created a new graphic with it). It will resonate with you I know! I found it in my post titled, Some Things Just Stick from June 27, 2022. I originally wrote, “When we hear the music around us can’t we all strive to strike a common chord? Because the underlying melody in all of us can be beautiful. Amidst the clanging of communication, the ringing of the rhetoric, the muddling of meaning, and the music of mockery, may we choose to listen and use our voices for civility. Let’s create a symphony of solidarity (K.L. Hale—the quote actually written on June 3, 2020 during Covid). I changed it up a bit and put it in a graphic! I was going to post it on a Wordless Wednesday since it was a graphic—but it has words, tee hee! 💛🎶
