A Little Preview

Sharing two poems from my upcoming collection, The Space Between Clouds! Release date March 15,2026!

IN THE CLOUDS

Posed on a calm
quiet breeze
or shouted
in frantic storms
The question remains the same

Do you see me?

My soul longs
to slow down
to be still
Locking my eyes on
The whole of you

Do you see me?

Recognizing the purpose
provided in your design
whether serene or inclement
Answering your question
as you answer mine

Yes! There you are! I see you!

SMILING BLUE

A patch of baby blue
cheerfully smiled,
Good morning
A welcomed greeting
following recent gray
heavy-mist days

Even the sun
attempted a greeting
but its rays produced only
a white glow behind
the lingering clouds-
An overcast day lay ahead

One glance in the rearview
and there was that smiling
patch of baby blue
reminding me of you-
Your smile, even in passing
always a welcomed sight

Forever remaining close
Even if the day is long
Even if the day is gloomy
Even if I’m simply wishing
for more time with you

Documenting

Gathering
Some carried flags
Others held carefully crafted
signs clearly expressing their purpose

People from all walks of life
Chants steady and strong
No troops, no ICE
No troops, no ICE

The message filling
every ounce of space
between the buildings
that lined the city streets

A continuing steady march
toward freedom for all
No troops, no ICE
No troops, no ICE

Weaving our way through
the crowd, there was no
fear- only strength and unity,
magnetic and memorable

Gathering
The words continue ringing
Faces captured in my mind’s eye
A grateful observer documenting truth

We were guests, visitors to the city. And though not participants in Chicago’s No Kings rally and march, we stood in agreement, willing observers.

Understanding the importance and power held within peaceful protests. And it was peaceful. And it was powerful.

Thank you, Chicago, for allowing us to take in your beauty, character, food, and history. ❤️

Simply Sunday on a Monday

I spent the last few days in Oklahoma City at Writercon https://writercon.com/. What an amazing conference! I will share more about it later. Today, my brain needs a little rest. The following is only a drop in the bucket. 😉

Stitch in Time

My heart is full
My thoughts crowded
Words are slow to arrive

Meaningful connections
Old, new, renewed-
all held together by a thread

Perhaps a smile
Hand on a shoulder
Or a sweet hug

Each silently waiting
for the next strand
to strengthen the bond

Also, a big thank you to Raw Earth Ink! https://raw-earth-ink.com/

Crisis Averted

The morning air was damp-
Did I brush my hair
before stepping outside?

The feeling of hurry wasn’t helpful-
funny what makes me frantic
Well, maybe not frantic
but slightly concerned-
A dying phone battery
being away from home
bringing the wrong charger-
Purchase made, crisis averted
Sitting quietly with my
tea and my thoughts
Hopefully my curious smile
reaches past my frazzled
brain and frizzy hair

Enjoying a weekend of being surrounded by fellow writers! Writercon

Learning, relearning, and someone even said unlearning. 🤍🩶

Simply Sunday

Heartbeats

Broken hearts
Happy hearts
Both are a part
Of this life
When we feel lost
Waiting to be found
When we are found
Hoping never
To be lost again
The heart measures
Time Differently
It never forgets
Being filled
Broken
Mended
Filled again
It never forgets
Growing, loving
Beating in sync
With another
Like the tick-tock
Of the clock
Even though an
Inaccurate gauge
Where hearts
Are concerned-
Time is fluid
Holding all
The possibilities
Of the universe
Within the rhythm
Of each heartbeat
