Rain stopped
Dark clouds
Remained
Casting
Shadows
That left
Little room
For reaction
Until
Sunlight
Pushed
Through
Casting
Shadows
Of dancing
Leaves on
The ground
Prompting
A brief smile
Before
Slipping back
Behind the gray
Tag: sunshine
Super Kids
Fresh air
Sunshine
Running
Jumping
Spinning
Friends
Playing
Getting ready
For summer-
Next year
Some will return
Some will move up
Some will move away
But today is not about that!
There will be
Scrapes and tears
Fusses and squabbles
Maybe even
A few rocks
Thrown
Yet, at the end of the day
What will they remember?
Playing with
Their friends
Being silly with
Their teachers
And, of course
Eating popsicles-
Because
Super Kids Day
Is all about super kids

Sneaky Sun
The sun was
Playing tricks
On me
Hide-n-seek
Perhaps
In its rosy
Sunrise pink
Look at me
This morning
Kind of smile
Peeking out
From behind
Wispy clouds
First to my right
Then to my left
Out of sight
And then…
Surprise!
Right in front
Of my eyes
Hmmm
I know this
Sneaky sun
Wasn’t really
Moving
No, that was me!
Always
Changing
Directions-
But it sure
Was fun
To pretend
Simply Sunday
Seamless
Those clouds
Perfection
I rarely use
That word
Perfection
But following
Several days
Covered in
A dome of
Grey clouds
Torrential
Rainfall and
Gusty winds
Perfection
Is the only
Fitting word
Stepping
Outside
To that first
Clear blue sky
Spotted with
Toy Story clouds
Framed with
Bright green trees-
My spirit lifted
With one
Seamless
Deep breath…
Perfection
Happy Mother’s Day! Thankful for the time spent with my three grown children this weekend! ❤️
Take a Step
You haven’t been
Very happy
Lately
Humph!
I thought
Incensed
But I know it’s true
And those words?
Spoken in love
So, why is it
Still so hard
To admit?
As if speaking
The words
Out loud
Gives them power
When actually
The opposite is true
You’re right
I’m depressed
Not simply
End-of-school
Exhausted
Though also true
Today’s remedies?
Sunshine
Fresh air
Newly planted
Flowers
Only enough
Planning to
Ease some stress
For the coming week
Small steps
Moving me
Forward
Gentle reminding
Only I can take
Those steps
But I don’t
Need to
Take them
Alone…and
Neither do you

Monday Progression
Dark clouds
Of gray
Hover over
Morning drive
Yielding sleepy
Eyes and yawns
Slowing
Reactions
Sweet flakes
Of coconut
Top buttery
Smooth frosting
Adding texture
And flavor
Surprising
Taste buds
Bright rays
Of sunshine
Guide
Drive home
Radiating joy
And warmth
Erasing
Cloud memories
Lovely petals
Of white
Bloom above
Green leaves
Baring grace
And beauty
Lifting
Heavy hearts
Today, I am thankful for the sunshine. Oh, and the flowers blooming in the front yard. And coconut cake…😉
Somewhere Between
The morning sky
Matched my mood
Midnight blue?
Hard to tell
Before sunrise
Glance to the right
A tiny streak of light
Somewhere between
Pale pink and white
Off in the distance
Glance to the left
Both me and the sky
Somewhere between
Asleep and awake
Moving forward
Traces of hope
One seeking
One displaying
As darkness
Transformed
To daylight
Afternoon Nap
A small herd of deer
Huddled low
In the grass
Pair of pigeons
Puffed out, perched
On the feeder
Yesterday’s sun
Secretly hiding
Behind clouds
Like a small child
Sneakily playing
Hide-n-Seek
Apparently
Spring
Needed a rest
After two
Exhausting
Days of work
One sunny
One rainy
Now gloomy-
The remedy?
An extended
Afternoon nap
That usually works for me!
Simply Sunday
Conversation Continued…
Part one here. 💛 Conversation in the Sun
Thank you for
The encouragement
Didn’t think
Anyone had
Noticed-starting
To feel a bit
Better
Oh! I’m so glad!
Your color is
Returning
Along with your
Strength
I do have one concern…
Yes?
If I stand any taller
You will be out of my view
And you’ve helped me so much
That’s ok. You will know
That I am here
That my face
Is being warmed
By the same sun as yours
And I will be able
To see your gentle waves
Floating on the breeze
And know you are
Waving at me

Conversation in the Sun

One lonely
Bloom
Fighting
To stand up
Underneath
The weight
Of recent winds
And rain
A tiny speck
In the vastness
Of this world
Has anyone noticed?
Bent so low
Only able to
See my shadow
On the ground
As the sun
Shines above

Hey! Over here!
Bend your ear
My way
It seems you have
Grown weak under
The pressures of
Life in this garden
Don’t lose hope
Rest, recharge
Together
Our roots will
Grow stronger
And you will
Once again
Stand up tall
Your face
Soaking up
The sun’s rays
