Baby Leaves

All it takes
Is one early
Spring shower
And bright
Green smiles
Suddenly appear
Around every corner
The color is so vibrant
So fresh and new
It causes me
To question
Whether or not
It is genuine-
Then, a quiet breeze
Happens to pass
And baby leaves
Begin to wave
Their friendly wave
The smiles growing
Instantly wider
-Theirs and mine-
And I am gently
Reminded to embrace
Each new season
With hope and faith
Oh, and maybe a smile

Unexpected Canvas

Crescent-shaped
Shadows
Gracefully swayed
Above the ground
Underneath the trees
On an unexpected canvas
A slab of concrete-gray
And yet, a backdrop
Able to artfully display
This rare masterpiece-
Looking up at the sky
I was in awe of
The heavenly origin
But if my gaze had
Remained in the sky
My soul would have
Missed the beautiful
Transformation
Of the shadows below

Curious Giving

A patch of light
Lingered sweetly
On the grass
Today, some warmth
Tomorrow, a little rain

The surrounding area
Remained shaded
The warmth’s origin
Remained hidden-
Surely not
On purpose-

Oh no, I’m near
The Pines are
Easing my rising-
Giving light and warmth
All day is hard work-
And to be effective
Must be shared
At the right time
When most needed-
At the right time
For optimal curiosity

Forty-Five Degrees

A morning cloud bank
Rose from the horizon
At such an angle
About forty-five degrees
In my estimation

Shades of blue grew
Incrementally brighter
With the expanding
Length of the rays
Fluffy white clouds
Still floating above-
A bit confused
I tilted my head
First to the right
Then the left
Wondering
If perhaps the Earth
Was off-kilter
Or if maybe it was me?
Traveling closer
The angle became
Less pronounced
And a sense of balance
Gently returned
While the feeling of awe
Continued to multiply

Where Is It?

In the morning mist
Rising from the ground
I can feel it

As sunlight clears
A green-grass path
It’s there

At midday bright
It hides behind
My squinting eyes

When day ends
And light fades
It graces the night sky

Can you feel it?
Do you see it?
Will you embrace it?

Particles may be small,
But the capacity for Wonder
Proves endless

Pure joy! 💖

Circle Poems

Sharing two poems from a recent poetry circle. ❤️

Listen

Do you ever feel like
No one is listening?
And I don’t mean
A simple nod of the head
Acknowledging
That your voice
Filled some space
I mean the listening
That reaches right
Into your heart
And pulls out
The words you are
Unable to say
No need to speak-
In the same way
The wind gently
Moves through
A row of pines
Pulling hellos from
Their frail needles
Carrying the greetings
Carefully to my ears
And I listen
No need to speak

Don’t Listen

I saw feathers
In the clouds today
White and wispy
Beautiful against the blue
I couldn’t stop
Looking at them
Wondering where
They came from
A lovely swan
Gliding on the water
The wings of an angel
Offering comfort
All these lovely thoughts
And then…the voice

What is wrong with you?
Those are just clouds
With scientific names
Perhaps you should
Do some research…

Hmmph-no, thank you!
I think I’ll keep
Looking for more
White, wispy feathers
Floating against the blue

Simply Sunday

I decided to look back a year and see what I posted. Decided to share it again today with a new pic. I love the flowers of Spring and the hope that accompanies them. 💛🌼

Conversation in the Sun

One lonely
Bloom
Fighting
To stand up
Underneath
The weight
Of recent winds
And rain
A tiny speck
In the vastness
Of this world
Has anyone noticed?
Bent so low
Only able to
See my shadow
On the ground
As the sun
Shines above

Hey! Over here!
Bend your ear
My way
It seems you have
Grown weak under
The pressures of
Life in this garden
Don’t lose hope
Rest, recharge
Together

Our roots will
Grow stronger
And you will
Once again
Stand up tall
Your face
Soaking up
The sun’s rays

Sunrise, Sunset

I wonder why
The hero is
Most often pictured
Riding into the sunset
Embraced
By the warmth
Of the deepest orange
Another day done
Ready for well-deserved rest…

Instead of riding
Toward the sunrise
Layered with colors
Bright and muted
Light calling
Through shadows
To the possibilities
Of a new day, imagined
But, not yet seen

I don’t have an answer.
I only wonder if
Perhaps the sunrise
Might shift focus
To the journey
Instead of the reward

Painting the Day

I watched
And listened
Curious
As they fell
Both individually
And collectively
Creating patterns
For eyes and ears
To interpret
And hearts
To contemplate
Providing
Sweet relief
For scorched
Nooks and corners
Aching for relief
Grateful recipients
Ready to flourish
Alongside
Spring flowers
Sharing space
In the day’s landscape-

I don’t think I’ve ever seen
Such pretty raindrops!

Sweet Visit

Hello there!
I hoped we might
See you today
Always look forward
To your visits
What’s that?
Yes, I imagine
It takes a lot
Of energy
For you to make
An appearance
Yesterday’s warmth
And sunshine
Must have been
The perfect pairing
You can’t stay long?
I understand
We will enjoy
Each other’s company
As long as we are able

What a difference one sunny day makes! 💛
