Simply Sunday

If only I could remember
What it was like
Being two-
Then perhaps I would know
What you’re thinking
When you look at me
With those curious blue eyes-
Oh, sometimes it’s obvious-
Sit here, Gigi!
Come on, Gigi!
No, Gigi!

It’s those other times
In your own little world
Playing, pretending
Quietly talking-
I wish I knew-
I’m sure the day will come
When you tell me exactly
What you’re thinking-
And I will listen because
I still have a lot to learn

Such is the Bond

There we were
Standing on
Grandma’s front porch
Me and Mom
All her sisters
Even Grandma
Was there talking
And smiling
Strange how young
She looked
I should have been
A child-And yet,
There I stood
Seeing them all
Thru grown-up eyes
A gift all its own
As one sister drove away
We all waved thru smiles
And tears, uncertain
When she would return
Such is the bond of
Mothers, daughters, sisters
Pouring love and strength
Thru laughter and tears
Over each new generation
Of mothers, daughters, sisters
I awoke in a sea of emotions
Thankful for the strong women in my past
Thankful for vivid dreams invaded by
memories

Shady Lessons

Variety of shades
Bright and light
Dark and deep
Hints of yellow
Specks of brown
Yet all described
As one…green
When the sun
Hits just right
I’m drawn in
As if seeing
These colors
The first time
I like to imagine
The trees with
Brighter hues
To be young
And energetic
Trees tinted with
Darker greens
Older and wiser
All standing tall
Young and old
Surrounding
Embracing
Mingling
With those
Somewhere
In between
A mesmerizing
Landscape of unity
Perhaps there are
Lessons to be learned
Among shades of green

I also attempted today’s prompt. https://www.napowrimo.net/ Write a shadorma or Fib. Each has very specific syllable patterns to follow. Here is my first ever Fib 1/1/2/3/5/8 then reversed.

Green
Leaves
Waving
Hanging on
Blustery wind wafts
Steady, green leaves do not waver

Tree branches sway greeting the wind
Quickly passing by
Peacefully
The green
Leaves
Rest
