Hold On
Buds will open soon
Awaiting the hummingbirds
Simple joys of Spring

Hold On
Buds will open soon
Awaiting the hummingbirds
Simple joys of Spring
You havenβt been
Very happy
Lately
Humph!
I thought
Incensed
But I know itβs true
And those words?
Spoken in love
So, why is it
Still so hard
To admit?
As if speaking
The words
Out loud
Gives them power
When actually
The opposite is true
Youβre right
Iβm depressed
Not simply
End-of-school
Exhausted
Though also true
Todayβs remedies?
Sunshine
Fresh air
Newly planted
Flowers
Only enough
Planning to
Ease some stress
For the coming week
Small steps
Moving me
Forward
Gentle reminding
Only I can take
Those steps
But I donβt
Need to
Take them
Aloneβ¦and
Neither do you

Dark clouds
Of gray
Hover over
Morning drive
Yielding sleepy
Eyes and yawns
Slowing
Reactions
Sweet flakes
Of coconut
Top buttery
Smooth frosting
Adding texture
And flavor
Surprising
Taste buds
Bright rays
Of sunshine
Guide
Drive home
Radiating joy
And warmth
Erasing
Cloud memories
Lovely petals
Of white
Bloom above
Green leaves
Baring grace
And beauty
Lifting
Heavy hearts
Today, I am thankful for the sunshine. Oh, and the flowers blooming in the front yard. And coconut cake…π

One lonely
Bloom
Fighting
To stand up
Underneath
The weight
Of recent winds
And rain
A tiny speck
In the vastness
Of this world
Has anyone noticed?
Bent so low
Only able to
See my shadow
On the ground
As the sun
Shines above

Hey! Over here!
Bend your ear
My way
It seems you have
Grown weak under
The pressures of
Life in this garden
Donβt lose hope
Rest, recharge
Together
Our roots will
Grow stronger
And you will
Once again
Stand up tall
Your face
Soaking up
The sunβs rays

I am the first to admit I can be a little prim and proper regarding dirt and sweat. I have fun memories of playing in the mud as a kid. Didnβt bother me then.
Yesterday, I suggested we go by flowers to plant in our front bed. My husband agreed. But guess what? They donβt transplant themselves.
My job was taking the plants out of the pots, breaking up the soil, and carefully placing them in their new home. My hands got dirty. Black, rich soil even managed to get under my fingernails.
Before you pat me on the back, this was a short project. Only a little dirt and sweat. π The results? Definitely worth getting a little dirt on my hands.

Pink flowers
Graced
The bed
Yesterday
Fluttering
In the breeze
As if to say
Isnβt it a lovely day?
Rains came
Winds grew
Now pink petals
Cover the ground
I donβt think
They are sad
Just seeing
The world
From a new
Perspective
Knowing
Their blooms will
Remain in memories
As they fade into dust
I wrote this poem at a recent writing circle with Ali Grimshaw. flashlightbatteries I continue to enjoy this process and the lovely people I’ve gotten to know. π
Drip-drops
Outside
My window
Faint
Steady
Green tree
Divided
By lines
A puzzle
Not wholly
Visible
Yet, complete-
Gray sky
Broken into
Rectangular
Sections
Interesting
But not enough
To lift the
Gray mood-
Happiness
Found in
Pink flowers
Watered by
The rhythm
Of the rain
Peaking
Between
The slats
A beautiful thing about Spring-even on the rainy days, colors are blooming outside. We simply have to look out the window. πΈπΊ
Beautiful Spring day in Oklahoma.

Trees wave in the breeze
Delicate flowers hold fast
Breeze pauses to gaze
A little childlike fun today with these two poems. πΊ π
Tiny flowers grow
Under the window
Just outside
Reaching with
All their might
Hoping to be seen
Tiny feet stand
Under the window
Just inside
Reaching on tiptoes
Wondering what is
On the other side
A little help, please
Tiny feet walk
Out the door
Holding a hand
Toes touch the grass
Eyes spot the flowers
Under the window
Hello, flowers
Under my window
The flowers smile
Hello little one
We were hoping
You would visit
A cloud phoned
The other day
Taking a break
From all its
Floating around
Needing to rest
It grew still
And quiet
Like a giant
Cotton ball
Sitting in
The blue sky-
Thought Iβd check-in
See if you needed anything
Said the cloud
Well, I said
Today has been hot
With little wind
Iβm quite enjoying
Your cool shade-
Glad to help
Said the cloud
Maybe next time I call
You will need a little rain-
Maybe soβ¦
Maybe soβ¦
I decided to try something different this weekend-Simply Sunday. The idea is to show one subject using few words and a variety of forms. Keeping it short and sweet! Enjoy! π
Lovely yellow blooms
Watercolor memories
Brighter in person
